It's proved that this temple of Mahanad had been built before the famous Dakshineswar Temple and it was this temple which inspired Rani Rasmoni to build a similar type of Kali Temple in Dakshinewar beside the river ganges in Howrah district. According to local history of Mahanad, Rani Rasmoni visited this place when Dakshineswar was merely a village.
